Xbox and Logitech have teamed up for a new handheld gaming platform called the G CLOUD. Equipped to handle Xbox Cloud Gaming and also able to tap into Xbox Remote Play, the G CLOUD was made to carve out a niche in the increasingly crowded handheld gaming market, going up against other on-the-go consoles like the Steam Deck or the Nintendo Switch Lite.

Designed with help from Tencent and running off of an Android system, the G CLOUD has a 7-inch touchscreen with 1080p resolution, a built-in thumbstick-and-button control setup reminiscent of an Xbox controller and a 3.5mm jack for headphones (no Bluetooth though). Battery life is up to 12 hours depending on the nature of use. The G CLOUD can also serve as a tablet-type device that runs standard Android apps and has access to the Google Play store.

The G CLOUD’s major advantage is the streamlined cloud gaming process that it provides, making it simple and straightforward for gamers to tap into Xbox’s extensive library of cloud titles with no modding or tinkering required. Previously you’d have to jerry-rig an Android device like a phone or tablet with a Bluetooth controller — or even run something like a Raspberry Pi — but here all you need to do is boot up and go.

If you’re looking to get your game on with a G CLOUD, it’s available for pre-order from Microsoft now and is priced at $299 USD. When it hits shelves on October 18 its price will go up to $349 USD.
